Southern Protea Star 12 piece dinner set (pre-order)

£375.00

A 12 piece handmade, porcelain dinner set with Protea flower detail in sgraffito technique. The plates are slab rolled and then moulded on a hump mould. Carefully painted with porcelain slip in Royal Blue stain before carving into the clay to reveal the contrasting blue and white colours of the clay. The dessert bowl is handmade with slip casted porcelain and decorated in the same sgraffito technique.

Dinner set consists of:

4 x Porcelain Dinner Plates Size: 26cm Diameter (Approx. 10.00 inches)

4 x Porcelain Side Plates Size: 22cm Diameter (Approx. 8.50 inches)

4 x Porcelain Dessert Bowls Size: 16 cm Diameter (Approx. 6.50 inches) Height: 7 cm (Approx. 2.8 inches)

Dispatch time will be confirmed after the order has been placed. Additional plates and bowls can be added at a discounted rate if you wish to order a larger set, please e-mail me about quantities.

The transparent, glossy glaze is dinnerware and dishwasher safe although handmade ceramics prefer a hand wash. All my materials are lead free.

Inspiration for this design comes from walking fynbos routes in the Overberg region, Western Cape, South Africa where my family resides. Proteas can reach a height of over 2 meters creating extraordinary flowery forest like scenery.

Fynbos (/ˈfeɪnbɒs/; Afrikaans pronunciation: [ˈfɛinbos] meaning fine-leaved plants) is a small belt of natural shrubland or heathland vegetation located in the Western Cape and Eastern Cape provinces of South Africa.
